Canadian software developer Wes Winder, has found himself at the center of global attention after he made the controversial decision to fire his entire development team and replace them with AI tools.

Winder initially took to social media to boast about his decision, claiming it allowed him to “ship 100X faster with code that’s 10X cleaner.” However, what he likely expected to be seen as innovation has instead backfired spectacularly, making him the subject of ridicule on platforms like Reddit.

In a now-infamous tweet, Winder wrote, “I fired my entire dev team. Replaced them with O1, Lovable and Cursor. Now I ship 100X faster with code that’s 10X cleaner. Open AI o3 is coming, and 90% of dev jobs won’t survive.”

While the post attracted significant attention, it also sparked outrage and widespread mockery. Ironically, Winder later posted on LinkedIn, announcing his company was seeking web developers to join his team, further fueling the backlash.
